What is this European fascination with the head of a lion with a ring through its teeth? I was in Rome (Italy), Salzburg (Austria) and Venice (Italy) recently. Out of my hundreds of photos thought I'd share these ones first.
Rome, Italy - don't remember where exactly. But look carefully - there are many like these.
Venice, Italy. Randomly walking through the narrow streets. An ornate well kept door. And there it was again.
I visited Salzburg, Austria. Birthplace of the great Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and sight of the classic movie "The Sound of Music". In this one the ring is actually a curled up snake. Fascinating eh? (The Canadian in me says...)
